Jacques & Anatol
This is the result of a friendly challenge at work. Artists had to team up with game designers and create a hero/villain pair along with powers and background and a game concept to go with it.
Here are Anatol and Jacques, they are a little bit sneaky.
They come from an atoll, this is Anatol's atoll. It's very small and there is not much to do on it. One day, Anatol was very bored and sneaked into the cavern temple to eat the volcano god's grapes offerings. He got a terrible tummy ache and everything went white. When Anatol woke up, he found he had done something horrifying. He had set the atoll on fire. He left and never came back.
It turns out that Jacques, the volcano god, was inside the grapes when Anatol ate them. Jacques didn't really like being eaten but then he discovered he could use Anatol's body to satisfy his life-long ambition of setting everything on fire!
Since then, Anatol lives with the fear that if he lets his guard down, Jacques will take over and set buildings on fire. When it happens, Anatol uses his volcano god powers to shoot triangles from his fingers. When the triangles touch people in flaming buildings, the people disappear. He doesn't really know where they go, but at least, they don't burn and that makes him feel better!
My partner for this challenge was Daniel Lutz. He is the one who came up with the idea of having a character who can flip upside down, and also with their cool superpowers. We didn't win the competition, but we did score an honourable mention!
